Education Amid Migration and Uncertainty

Nagaraj is an 18-year-old student currently studying in Ist  PUC at SLN College, City Market, Bengaluru. His family originally belonged to Kurukunda village in Yadgir district and migrated to Bengaluru in search of better livelihood opportunities.

Nagaraj comes from a family of four. After the passing of his father, the responsibility of supporting the household fell on his mother, who works as a daily wage labourer. His two elder brothers work as drivers to help meet the family’s basic needs. The family does not own agricultural land or a house in their native village, and their income remains uncertain and irregular.

Frequent migration and financial instability have created several challenges for Nagaraj’s education. Limited financial resources, lack of a stable learning environment, and minimal academic guidance at home have affected his ability to focus consistently on his studies.

Through the SATHI–TDH project, Nagaraj will receive educational support to help him continue his studies. This includes assistance with educational materials, support for college-related expenses, and guidance in accessing government welfare schemes. Exploring the possibility of a hostel facility will also help provide a more stable environment for his learning.

With continued support and guidance, Nagaraj will be able to pursue his education with confidence and work towards building a more secure future for himself and his family.
