From Hopelessness to Hope: A Child’s Return to Learning

Every child deserves a chance to dream, learn and build a better future. The journey of Navnath Sukhdev Vhore from Parbhani, Maharashtra, is a powerful example of how timely support, compassion and encouragement can transform a child’s life.

Navnath belonged to a financially struggling family. His father, Sukhdev Vhore, is a farmer, and his mother, Sangeeta Vhore, is a homemaker. Despite their limited resources, his parents always wished for a better future for their children. Navnath has two siblings, an elder brother and an elder sister. In 2019, when Navnath was only 15 years old and studying in the 10th standard, he left his home after being scolded by his father. At such a young age, he found himself away from the safety of his family and faced many uncertainties. On 9th August 2019, Navnath was rescued by the SATHI Pune team, who provided him with care, protection and guidance during this difficult period.

The SATHI team recognized the potential within Navnath. He was a sincere and hardworking student with a strong desire to continue his education. Although his family’s financial condition made further studies difficult, Navnath never gave up on his dreams. He wanted to pursue ITI in the Electrician trade and build a career in the technical field.

Understanding his determination and potential, SATHI continued to encourage and support him in his educational journey. On 21st March 2024, during an interaction at the DRM Office, ADRM Sir, Leena Rajan, and senior members of SATHI extended their support by providing Navnath with a cheque of ₹10,000 towards his studies. This support became a source of motivation and helped him continue his education with renewed confidence. With dedication, hard work and continuous encouragement, Navnath successfully completed his studies and acquired the skills needed to pursue his career aspirations. His efforts were rewarded when he was selected for the position of Assistant Electrician in Maharashtra State Electricity Transmission Corporation.

Today, Navnath stands as an inspiration for many children who face challenging circumstances. His story highlights the importance of rehabilitation, education and opportunities in changing the lives of vulnerable children. A child who once needed support and protection has now become a skilled young professional, ready to contribute positively to society. Navnath’s achievement is not only a personal success but also a reminder that every child has immense potential when provided with care, guidance and the right opportunities. His journey reflects the impact of collective efforts by caregivers, supporters and organizations working towards building brighter futures for children.
